Canapone

At the center of the main square of the city stands the monument dedicated to Leopold of Lorraine. A marble group depicting Canapone, so called from the Grosseto for the color of hair and beard, in the act of raising the Maremma from malaria, when the first warms of the arrival the disease did not leave escape and began the exodus of the citizens and public offices to healthier countries and the city emptied until the autumn.
