The Municipalities of Grosseto and Castiglione della Pescaia, as part of the European project Reboot Med called "THE RING OF BIODIVERSITY' BETWEEN SEA, LAND AND MARSH: THE DIACCIA BOTRONA AND CASA ROSSA XIMENES" promoted by Far Maremma, collaborate in the sustainable enhancement of the Diaccia Botrona Nature Reserve, included in the territory of the two municipalities.
The Reboot Med project, which involves nine other pilot areas in the Mediterranean, aims to build experiences of ecotourism within protected areas, in this case along the route of the Ring of Biodiversity within the Reserve Diaccia Botrona.
In this regard, a phase of testing of ecotourism experiences is planned, with the organization of three different dates, open to locals and tourists, and guided by operators who have joined the initiative. Once the experiences have been tested, the products will be included in the catalogue of the Meet1 network, a network of ecotourism experiences in the Mediterranean, which will also contribute to the promotion of the Maremma territory towards foreign markets and ecotourism targets, for the seasons from autumn to spring.
The enhancement of the Reserve of Diaccia Botrona from the point of view of its protection and its sustainable use and ecotourism aims to help promote local territories with a view to increasing sustainability towards those targets and those tourist markets that appreciate the brand Maremma Toscana and differentiation of the tourist offer.
