"La miniera a memoria" to remember the 43 victims of 1954 - Ribolla


The memory of the tragedy 69 years later. The 43 victims who lost their lives in the explosion of 4 May 1954 in the firedamp mine in Ribolla will be remembered on Thursday 4 May, opening at 9.30 a.m. with Holy Mass in the Church of Saints Barbara and Paul Apostle. At 10.30 a.m. a wreath will be laid at the Miner's Monument, while at 11.30 a.m. the celebrations will move to the Camorra Well and the Miners' Monument, for the laying of wreaths.
The day of 4 May will end in the evening at 9.30 p.m. at the Ex cinema where the short film 'C'era una volta a Ribolla' by Giovanni Guidelli will be screened.

On Saturday 6 at 11.00 a.m. at the ISGREC Park Gate, there will be a debate: 'The miners of the Maremma between fascism and resistance'. An aperitif will be offered at the end.

Free of charge

The remembrance of the area's mining history and the tragedy of 4 May 1954 will continue until Wednesday 31 May.
