Ran by the Pierini family since it’s birth in the ’50s, the Ausonia is today a 3-star hotel with 27 rooms, garden and a private beach on the Gulf of Follonica. The location is enviable, located right in the city’s centre, between a pine forest and Follonica’s characteristic waterfront. Strategically, it is a genuine reference point for those who are interested in both visiting and getting to know the Tuscan coast and Maremma’s most interesting attractions. The hotel provides disabled accessibility. The Ausonia offers local cuisine with a vegetarian menu too.   The kitchen prefers fresh and zero kilometre ingredients, both farm-to-table and sea-to-table. We offer traditional dishes with a modern twist. During the season, we favor fresh and sparkling cuisine, trying to combine lightness with quality. The menus are updated daily, and desserts are homemade. Our staff gathers the dietary requirements of each of our guests, diversifying the proposals but paying the utmost attention to the quality of the dishes provided. The alternative, on the beach, is called “L’ombra” (The Shade), a small but tasty refreshment point. It is more informal but, nevertheless, attentive to product quality. It offers fried options, cold dishes, salads and take-away meals.  The Ausonia is a pet-friendly hotel; your 4-legged friends are welcome here. We do ask you to respect some basic rules of coexistence and pay a small surcharge for duly more accurate cleanliness.  Cycling is a fast way to get to know the city and to visit some worthy surrounding areas, such as Cala Violina, Cala Martina or the Sterpaia Coastal Park. Bicycles can be requested at the reception and are free for short-distance routes. Otherwise, for trips or for daily use, they are provided for rent.    We provide free Wi-Fi, to be always connected on holiday as at work. We also provide mini-tours via reservation, by minibus, trekking or mountain-bike, with or without a tour-guide.
