An event, an easy bike ride open to all, dedicated to the memory of an event that occurred on June 17, 1944 in the locality of Ponte del Ricci where, in a firefight with German troops, four young men from Montemassi found their death.




The reconstruction of the events will be entrusted to the reading of excerpts from Cinzia Pieraccini's book "Una strage da riscoprire, 17 giugno 1944, Ponte del Ricci." In collaboration with Associazione Nazionale Partigiani d'Italia - Provincial Committee "Norma Parenti."




The commemorative moment at Ponte del Ricci, however, does not exhaust the search for the "historical memory" of this itinerary, which develops entirely in the area of the Colline Metallifere National Park, and continues along the roads of the old mines of Ribolla with stops at some of the symbolic places of the former mining camp where, in 1954, the most serious Italian mining tragedy of the post-World War II period occurred.
