Inaugurated this morning the new visual-audio tactile route for the visually impaired and blind in the Diaccia Botrona nature reserve, with access from Ponti di Badia. Present at the event were councillor Riccardo Megale, representing the municipal administration, the sole administrator of Sistema Mauro Squarcia, director Alberto Paolini, technician Fabrizio Billi, and the president of the Unione Italiana Ciechi e Ipovedenti provinciale di Grosseto, Sioli Sereni.
The itinerary, created with an investment of 10,000 euro thanks to funds from the Region of Tuscany, stems from the administration's desire to offer a more inclusive experience in the Reserve.
The new itinerary is equipped with tactile relief maps and other elements designed to be read and perceived through touch, specifically designed for people with visual disabilities.
Specifically, the project led to the installation of two information panels: the first presents a tactile map of the marshland area, which includes Castiglione della Pescaia, the Tombolo pine forest and Clodia Island, while the second depicts, again in bas-relief, the silhouettes and names of the reserve's main bird species.
In addition, an audio guide accessible via smartphone has been developed, which, by scanning a qr code, allows users to listen to an interactive audio description of the area, exploring its history and natural features.
By 2025, the project will be expanded with the installation of a third panel, also in bas-relief, which will feature silhouettes and names of the plant and fish species present, as well as two new information boards for accompanying persons, with information on the route and how to access the audio guides.
