Castle Porrona

Castel Porrona represents one of the most striking examples of fortified castle-farms in Tuscany. Two stately palaces, of the Tolomei and Piccolomini families, stand out in the village, protected by the ancient walls on which houses were later built. The Tolomei Palace and the Church of San Donato border the town square. What to see: the castle and the beautiful walls that entirely surround the village are one of the beauties to be admired in Porrona along with the Palazzo Piccolomini with its cloister and characteristic well and Piazza Tolomei that dominates the central square; the Pieve di San Donato, the parish church of the hamlet; and theChurch of Madonna delle Grazie, which is located outside the walls of Porrona and was built during the 1600s.
