Venus, the immortal goddess, therefore still existing today, lives far away from Olympus and her hated relatives. After wandering for centuries, she now dwells in Paris among mortals. As the gods are no longer believed, the goddess of beauty and love can finally afford to live in the imperfection of human existence.
'Imagine my joy! A goddess condemned to live in the eternal dampness of the sea, discovering the existence of messiness'. Recalling, in a comic and tragic flashback, the story of Cupid, the ungrateful and disobedient son, and Psyche, on whom she projects - as an enemy mother-in-law - all her resentment as a frustrated and dissatisfied goddess, Venus takes revenge ‘on the extraordinary mortal, believed to be Venus on earth’.
Deus ex-machina cruel and merciless, Venus recalls the only occasion in which she felt a feeling of love by caring for her son, who fled from his beloved Psyche, and returns to his mother, goddess and mistress, to have the wounds of a deceived love soothed.
