Geppy Gleijeses, directed by Marco Tullio Giordana, is the protagonist of Il fu Mattia Pascal, the famous novel by Luigi Pirandello. Mattia Pascal says of himself «I was inept at everything»: he is the wonderful Italian example of a generation of inept people, without qualities. The man believed and then pretended to be dead, when he “resurrects” realizes that he can no longer be readmitted into society, into the family, because for society, for the family, he is truly dead.

It is the most glittering proof of the “sentiment of the opposite” coined by Pirandello. Dishonesty and purity, life-death in the great circus of social conformism, which brands what does not exist as safe and what lives as non-existent. Maintaining a humorous dramaturgy we find in the work reflective and irrational elements that question the audience by breaking down the impersonality of the “fourth wall”.
