On Friday 16 June the squares and streets of the historic village of Civitella Marittima (GR) will come alive with the traveling theater show "The Theater at the Ardengo Court - Multiple Jumps In Some Middle Ages For A Group Of (Almost) Actors" opening event of the 51st edition of the Alta Maremma Festival which takes place in Civitella Marittima on 16, 17 and 18 June 2023.

The show is the result of the theater workshop created in Civitella Marittima by Canguasti Teatro under the patronage of the Municipality of Civitella Paganico and in collaboration with Pro Loco Civitella Marittima.

“The workshop took place from 4 April and involved participants from all over the province of Grosseto – explains Felice Panico, director of the show and curator of the workshop – The show is inspired by the medieval sagas of the Maremma area. I liked the idea of ​​going back to a community theatre, as is medieval theatre. The theater that fills the alleys, the streets, the squares and does not need scenography or lights because the place where it takes place is already the ideal background. Thus was born "The Theater Alla Corte Di Ardengo".

The traveling show reveals with surprises, irony (and some license) the scenic story of the Ardenghesca county from the 11th to the 14th century and offers spectators the opportunity to travel through enchanted places in the historic village of Civitella Marittima.

"The theater workshop was a significant experience for our area and aroused the interest of people also from other Municipalities - continues Franco Angiolini, president of the Pro Loco - we are happy to have collaborated and supported its success and we hope to continue this path in the years to come”.

Medieval guitti and candid ladies will guide the spectators along the four-stage itinerary inside the fortress. It begins at 19.00 at Porta degli Men. The show will last approximately 60 minutes.
