On 26 August, the Cross will once again be illuminated at sunset, on a day intended to commemorate an important chapter in the history of Mount Amiata and the bond that still today links this monument to the mountain and its inhabitants.

The programme is as follows:

5.45 pm – welcome for officials, participants and members of the public at Pianello Vetta
6.30 pm – commemorative ceremony with speeches by the Mayor of Abbadia San Salvatore, Niccolò Volpini; the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani; Cardinal Augusto Paolo Lojudice; and the mayors of the municipalities of the Amiata area
8.00 pm – at sunset, the Cross will be gradually illuminated, accompanied by the string quartet of the OIDA Orchestra of Arezzo
9.30 pm – concert by the Leggera Electric Folk Band & the Gran Coro delle Genti del Monte Amiata, featuring traditional music and songs from the Amiata region.
