Walking tour — Wildlife trek in the Park — FREE
The route
A guided walk within the Maremma Park along route A6 — Wildlife Trail: an almost flat circular route that crosses an ancient 19th-century communal pasture, amongst large, scattered oaks (Turkey oaks, holm oaks, downy oaks and cork oaks). The first section offers panoramic views of the Grand Ducal Villa and the reclaimed plain; the second winds its way through cork oaks and Mediterranean scrub.
Wildlife and nature
The route is particularly well-suited for spotting wildlife in the evening, when the animals emerge from the woods to feed: fallow deer, wild boar, roe deer, hares, foxes and porcupines. Among the birds: jays, greenfinches, goldfinches, green woodpeckers and wild turtle doves. The guide will lead the group at a slow pace and in silence to maximise sightings.
