On Friday 3 July 2026, as part of the ‘Archaeology Fridays’ series, with a special opening of the Roselle Archaeological Park from 7.00 pm to 11.00 pm, Fiab Grosseto Ciclabile and HMO are organising an evening excursion with a night-time return, a guided tour of the Roselle archaeological site and a refreshment break in the historic centre of Batignano, including a pizza round at Bar di Mezzo.

Roselle by night: a magical journey amongst cyclopean walls, Roman baths and the ancient amphitheatre. Under the starry sky, Etruscan-Roman history comes to life, creating an atmosphere as if frozen in time.

The cycle route:
distance: 38 km
elevation gain: 280 m
difficulty: easy

Meeting point: 6.15 pm at the start of the Grosseto–Roselle cycle path, in the green space next to the hospital car park on Via Senese.
We will set off at 6.30 pm, allowing us to reach the Roselle Archaeological Site in time for the guided tour starting at 7.30 pm.

Once the guided tour of the ancient city of Roselle is over, the evening continues with a ride to the historic centre of Batignano, where we’ll enjoy a refreshment break with a round of pizzas at Bar di Mezzo. (Booking via the registration form)
The return to Grosseto is scheduled for midnight.

Taking part:
The event is open to everyone on any bike, provided it has gears. You must have a working light and a high-visibility jacket for night-time cycling.
E-bikes are available for hire.
Registration for the ride constitutes a self-certification of physical fitness.
Booking is compulsory; please complete the registration form by 12 noon on Monday 29 June.

Costs:
the registration fee for the event is 15 euros (10 for FIAB members) and includes:
• guided tour
• entrance ticket to the archaeological site
