Artigiani da Museo

Museum-Quality Artisans: Opening on 6 May at the Polo Le Clarisse
Tradition, expertise and the future in dialogue for the project included among the official events of National Made in Italy Day.

The exhibition ‘Museum Craftsmen: Tradition, Knowledge and the Future in Dialogue’ will be inaugurated on Wednesday 6 May 2026 at 10.00 am at the Le Clarisse Cultural Centre in Grosseto. The project is the result of a collaboration between Confartigianato Imprese Grosseto, the A. Rosmini State High School and the Le Clarisse Cultural Centre.

Included among the official events of National Made in Italy Day 2026, the initiative represents an innovative model for promoting cultural and productive heritage, capable of linking the world of craftsmanship with the museum space and with education.

“The launch of the exhibition marks an important moment for a project that focuses on the cultural value of craftsmanship and its ability to engage with the present,” says Cristina Frascati, project manager for Confartigianato Imprese Grosseto. Artigiani da Museo was created with the aim of presenting craftsmanship not merely as production, but as an expression of identity, skills and vision. Bringing these experiences into a museum setting means recognising their role in shaping contemporary culture and creating new opportunities for interaction between businesses, young people and the community.”

“For the A. Rosmini State High School, this project represents a tangible and innovative example of what a school can and must be: an open space, capable of engaging with the local community, the world of work and cultural institutions, thereby fostering a vibrant and informed relationship between students and the heritage that surrounds them. – comments Roberta Capitini, headteacher of the A. Rosmini State High School – “The recognition of this as an official event for National Made in Italy Day demonstrates how an educational programme, rooted in the local context, can take on a national dimension. We are proud to have helped build a solid bridge between education, craft businesses and the museum world.”

“Artigiani da Museo is a project that offers a tangible interpretation of the museum’s role as a space open to dialogue between different fields of knowledge, languages and communities,” add Giovanni Tombari, president of the Fondazione Grosseto Cultura, and Mauro Papa, director of the Polo Le Clarisse. “Bringing craftsmanship into the Polo Le Clarisse means recognising its cultural value and its ability to reflect the present through work, research and the passing on of skills. In this endeavour, the involvement of schools adds a fundamental element: building connections between generations and providing tools to interpret and enhance the region’s heritage. It is in this relationship between institutions, education and the world of production that the idea of an accessible, vibrant and deeply rooted culture is strengthened.”

The exhibition, open until 24 May, transforms the museum into a meeting place for languages, techniques and materials, where the works of artisans engage with the artistic heritage, restoring the value of craftsmanship as a central element of contemporary cultural identity

The exhibition’s protagonists are local artisans, embodying diverse skills, styles and backgrounds that showcase the richness of contemporary Italian craftsmanship: master goldsmiths Gabriella A. M. Cartella and Laura Giusti; fashion designers Francesca Riillo, Paolo Martini and Daniela Pelosi; and Emiliano Fiorenzano, a dental technician specialising in 3D modelling.

Though diverse in their training and fields of work, they share a strong design identity and the ability to blend tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and research, helping to present a contemporary and dynamic image of craftsmanship as a living, ever-evolving heritage.

A distinctive feature of the project is the active involvement of students from the Liceo del Made in Italy, who are participating in the exhibition programme by documenting and recounting the creative processes through interviews, digital content and research activities, thereby contributing to the creation of a contemporary archive of the trades.

The opening day will begin at 10.00 am with the welcome of participants, followed by official greetings and a presentation of the project featuring speeches by the organisers and partners involved.

This will be followed by a focus on the regional significance of ‘Made in Italy’ and first-hand accounts from the artisans featured in the exhibition, including master goldsmiths, fashion designers and professionals in contemporary manufacturing.

The official opening of the exhibition is scheduled for 11.50 am, followed by a guided tour with the artisans.

A true cultural workshop, bridging the gap between craftsmanship, institutions and education, offering the public a real opportunity to discover first-hand the region’s finest products and the value of manual labour as a living heritage.
