Herbs and aromas in cosmetics: from antiquity to the present day

The language of perfumes draws on a vocabulary that cuts across the realms of philosophy, aesthetics and customs; it is an alphabet that links ritual and myth, worship and cosmetics, spanning the sacred and the profane.

In the latest instalment of our lecture series at MAAM, we will be joined by two exceptional guests: the archaeologist and writer
Erika Maderna and Fulco Abbate, owner of Abbate Y La Mantia, who will take us on a journey through the world of herbs and aromas, beginning with some stories from mythology and then exploring their uses in cosmetic products from antiquity to the present day.
