The acclaimed author Amélie Nothomb, one of the most original voices in contemporary literature; the internationally renowned American journalist and writer Alan Friedman; the television actress Elda Alvigini; the internet sensation Federico Palmaroli (#lepiùbellefrasidiosho); and Giovanni Solimine, president of the Bellonci Foundation, which organises the Strega Prize.
These are just some of the key figures at the sixth edition of ‘Grosseto dei Lettori’, a project organised by the Wimbledon Aps association under the direction of Gabriele Ametrano, in close collaboration with the Le Clarisse Cultural Centre – which forms part of the ‘Grosseto Cultura’ project run by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze – and with the Municipality of Grosseto. The initiative was created to encourage people to read in an authentic and engaging way.
The Maremma leg of the event, which puts the reader at the centre under the motto ‘Reading changes everything’, will take place from Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 June at the Le Clarisse Cultural Centre, the Troniera della Proloco and the Chelliana Municipal Library in Grosseto. The programme includes presentations, talks, guided tours, workshops and activities for young readers – a blend of educational content, entertainment and social engagement in a format accessible to all generations, confirming the important role of culture in the growth of a community.
As part of the “La Toscana dei Lettori” project, “Grosseto dei Lettori” is organised in collaboration with Fondazione Grosseto Cultura, Proloco Grosseto and the Grosseto Network of Archives, Libraries and Documentation Centres, with the support of the Mondadori bookshop in the centre of Grosseto (free admission; for further information: www.lacittadeilettori.it).
