the international appointment with the GEP - European Heritage Days, which this year in Italy will be held on the weekend of Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September, is also renewed for 2025 at the archaeological parks of Maremma, with the engaging theme “Architectures: the art of building” (“Heritage and Architecture: Windows to the Past, Doors to the Future”): an invitation to rediscover the richness and historical and stylistic value of the architectural landscape that surrounds us.
With this aim, the archaeological parks of Maremma have therefore developed a series of events and special initiatives, which will take place in all three different areas, aimed at making the varied cultural heritage of the area and the its stimulating identity.

At the foot of the promontory where the Ancient City of Cosa stood, a Roman colony founded in 273 BC, the remains of the city's port are located. You can still see the impressive infrastructure created to give safe shelter to boats (piers and breakwaters made of limestone blocks) and to avoid silting up the port itself. Next to it there is the suggestive “Spacco della Regina”, a fissure that makes room in the low rock face, whose history and legends will be possible to learn about.
Meeting at the ticket office of the Archaeological Museum of Cosa (Ansedonia, GR) at 3.00 pm.
Free event in collaboration with ASD Polisportiva Orbetello Scalo.
4km of walking with medium gradient (return) – suitable for families. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
At the end of the event it is possible to participate in a refreshment at the premises of the Polisportiva Orbetello Scalo, booking on 3391855639.
