On Friday, May 29, we will present *Se non ci fosse la Luna* (If There Were No Moon) at the Roselle Observatory. This is the first book by Michele Machetti—a science communicator, an amateur astronomer since the age of eight, a lifelong member of AMSA, and a familiar voice at the Observatory’s observation evenings. A short but dense book that blends scientific rigor with wonder to restore the Moon to its rightful role: not merely a nocturnal ornament, but the silent guardian of life on Earth.
Joining the author will be Stefano Innocenti, the book’s publisher, to discuss how the project came about and what it means to be a science communicator today. Michele will speak about the book’s origins, his journey as a science communicator, and the thread that has always linked his passion to the Maremma sky.
And then—because we are, after all, an observatory, and the Moon will be nearly full—we’ll go and actually look at it, using the telescopes in the garden. Craters, seas, lunar mountains: the best way to wrap up an evening dedicated to her.
Free admission.
Reservations are required.
