Located at the corner between the main façade and the right side of the Duomo, it has been in Piazza delle Catene since the Middle Ages, when it was brought almost certainly by the nearby Roselle before its definitive abandonment.
Also called Colonna dei Bandi has been used over time as an element where various information was posted to the population.
