MERCANTINE RETURNS TO ROCCASTRADA
24–25–26 JULY 2026
On Friday 24, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July, Roccastrada comes alive with ‘MerCantine in Poggio’: a festival that brings the beautiful historic centre to life with Roccastrada-style street food, featuring traditional dishes. Among the many dishes on offer, we’d like to highlight panzanella, pasta with chickpeas, peposo, grilled meats, tripe and homemade desserts. There will also be food and wine stalls, craftspeople, hobbyists, photography exhibitions in the underground cellars, free guided walks and plenty of live music.

The first day of the event, Friday 24 July, is also ‘Venerdi diVINO’, featuring wine tastings from local producers.
In Via Indipendenza, just before the iconic Clock Tower, you’ll find the barbecue area, serving sandwiches with sausage and scamerita, with the option of adding onion or peppers.
In Piazza dell’Orologio, at Barretterego, you’ll find our fabulous beers, honey wine, and you can sample the Moro in Camicia, a handmade dessert that everyone simply loves!
In Via IV Novembre, the Cantina della Gioventù Bohemienne awaits you with super-tasty sandwiches: a ‘Peposo’ sandwich, tripe, porchetta, and a selection of cold cuts and cheeses!
At the start of Via del Poggio, right next to Piazzetta Incrociata, you’ll find the Cantina dei Signori a Modo, where you can enjoy traditional dishes: panzanella, pappa al pomodoro and tagliolini with chickpea cream.
Just beyond the steps leading up to the tower, you’ll find the Poco di Bono snack bar, serving sandwiches with scamerita and green pepper, kebabs, tripe sandwiches and much more…
…and at the end of Via del Poggio, you’ll find the panoramic terraces overlooking the Collese area; a splendid pair of binoculars, recently reinstalled, will allow you to discover the beauty of the Maremma as seen from above.
