On Friday, August 28, at the Granaio Lorenese in Spergolaia, the Maremma Park will host a special screening of “House of Fish,” the documentary directed and produced by Santiago Burin Des Roziers that chronicles the battle to protect the sea led by Paolo Fanciulli, a fisherman and environmental guide, through the “Casa dei Pesci” project.

The film, which has won awards at numerous international festivals, follows the visionary journey that led to the creation of an underwater museum of marble sculptures in the waters off Talamone—a collective project designed to stop illegal trawling and promote fish restocking. It is a story of conservation, art, and courage, weaving together the history of the region with one of the most innovative marine conservation initiatives ever undertaken in Italy.

Piergiorgio Stipa (president of the “Casa dei Pesci” association);
Letizia Marsili (professor of Ecology at the University of Siena);
Beppe Anselmi (passionate naturalist, former park ranger at the Maremma National Park).
The event begins at 5:45 p.m. with opening remarks by the director and guests. The screening will start at 6:00 p.m. Following the documentary, the audience will have the opportunity to engage in a discussion with the guests and ask them questions.
