Caterina Albana presents her new book "I Gorgone"


From the Risorgimento to the post-war period, the history of Italy seen through three generations of a Sicilian family.
The Gorgons, originally from north-eastern Sicily, intertwine their family history with national historical events: from the expedition of the Thousand to the great migration of the early twentieth century, from the earthquake in Messina to the First World War, to fascism, the Second World War and the referendum of 1946.
Salvatore emigrates to Pennsylvania in 1913, Giuseppe disappears in Argentina, the sisters choose the cloister. Their children face war and post-war ideological conflicts. Around them, places, customs, stories and legends enrich the story, authentic and documented by photographs.


The author, Caterina Maria Albana (San Piero Patti, ME), was a publicist in the '80s and teacher of history and philosophy in Tuscan high schools. She participated in European projects on memory and migration, collaborating with ISGREC and the Gramsci Institute of Grosseto. He edited historical publications and promoted initiatives for the memory of the victims of fascism.

At the Natural History Museum of Maremma. Organizes the Mondadori bookshop in the historic center.
