The Municipality of Pitigliano, in collaboration with the Fortezza Orsini APS Cultural Center, is once again participating in the International Day Against Violence Against Women this year, with a program of initiatives taking place on November 25, aimed at schools and citizens.
The day will begin at 9:15 a.m. in Via San Michele, with the Fortezza Orsini APS Cultural Center presenting the municipal administration with a plaque to be affixed to the red bench that was painted in 2023 by students from the Pitigliano middle school and then installed in Piazza San Michele. The plaque will complete the project, explaining the meaning and value of the bench. Students from the Umberto I Comprehensive School will participate. Following this, red shoes made of cardboard by middle school students will be placed in symbolic locations around the town, such as San Michele, the Medici Aqueduct, the Villano Monument, and the Ex Macerie. The red cardboard shoes will also be distributed in municipal offices and shops.
In the afternoon, at 3:30 p.m., a flash mob will be held in front of the steps of the town hall, with the reading of the names of the victims of femicide from November 26, 2024, to November 25, 2025. Anyone who wishes to do so can join the flash mob to read those names. For each woman, the place and date on which she was killed will be indicated.
