The book analyzes the political situation in Italy over the last thirty years, highlighting how no one has been able to effectively occupy the central political space, despite the growing polarization of left and right. Marattin proposes the creation of a liberal-democratic political alternative to the current factions. In the first part, it examines the causes of the Italian economic decline and criticises the explanations provided by the centre-left and centre-right. In the second part, he outlines a vision for the future, suggesting a model of society inspired by liberal-democratic values and indicating the policies needed to achieve it.
