Solar eclipse (walk and canoe trip) | 12 August 2026
On Wednesday 12 August, two special events are planned to mark the exceptional astronomical event due to take place at around 7.31 pm, with the eclipse reaching its peak at around 8.20 pm: a walk in Collelungo and a canoe trip on the River Ombrone. Places for the canoe trip are almost fully booked.
👣The walk in Collelungo involves a short, moderately difficult walk (around 11.3 kilometres), with a guide, along the A2 – Le Torri route. You’ll be able to have dinner on the beach (with a packed meal) and climb the Collelungo Tower. The excursion continues with an evening walk to enjoy the sounds and scents of the pine forest – the aroma of resin and rosemary, birdsong and sudden rustling noises. The meeting point is at 4 pm at the Alberese Visitor Centre. The event will last around 6 hours, with return around 9.30–10 pm. We recommend comfortable clothing, walking boots, water and a packed dinner. There is a charge for the event (€15 full price, €10 reduced price for students up to 25 years old). The excursion is recommended for those aged 12 and over. Booking is compulsory; please email booking@parco-maremma.it.
🛶For the canoeing experience, full details are available on the website www.canoemaremma.it.
