The Silver Provisini award ceremony in Santa Fiora

Saturday 10 August, 7 p.m., in Piazza Giosuè Carducci

Santa Fiora celebrates citizens, associations and companies that have distinguished themselves through their work in various sectors, contributing to the growth and well-being of the local community.

The choice of the date of 10 August is linked to a historical fact: the provisino was an ancient currency in use in the county of Santa Fiora since the 12th century. On 10 August 1164, in Pavia, the official act was drawn up by which Frederick Barbarossa granted Ildebrando VII Novello, Count Aldobrandesco of Santa Fiora, the privilege of minting a coin called Provisino Aldobrandesco or of Santa Fiora.
