Tasting History Massa Metallorum, a town many tales

“Tasting History” is a series of three events held between March and May, dedicated to the medieval history of the town, accompanied by tastings of historical recipes inspired by manuscripts dating from the 13th to the 16th century.

Among the culinary offerings: marinated fish prepared according to ancient medieval recipes, apple fritters typical of the Lenten period, savory pies with onions and saffron, dishes based on chickpeas and almonds, as well as specialties such as erbolata (herb pie) and traditional panpepato.

The event is organized by the Municipality of Massa Marittima and the Società dei Terzieri Massetani as part of the celebrations marking the 800th anniversary of the Free Commune.
